BAYLEE SIMONE MALLIN

Actor, Singer, Dancer, Musician

Hey! I’m Baylee, a BFA Musical Theater Student At Wright State University. While Musical Theater is my main focus with my education, I am a connoisseur in all things creative. I grew up in a very prolific household—My mother is a graphic designer and my father an ex-musician, so I was encouraged to innovate from a very young age. Having all kinds of artistic and diverse tools at my disposal from ages 6-13, I was left to cure my boredom through the means of stray scraps of card-board, paint, markers, felt, empty journals, and old cameras. I incorporate creating into everything I do, and everything I am.

“Through all mediums, I have developed a creative identity and a unique sense of self within the world of art. I live to create, and I am constantly aiming to better myself and the art that I produce.”

MY JOURNEY

  • Disney’s “Hannah Montana” was revolutionary to my malleable child’s brain, so at the age of 6, I decided that I was going to be a “pop star” when I grew up. I taught myself how to sing all of her songs and forced my family to film/watch me perform. Little did I know, I could do this on a real stage. That was the moment I discovered the magic of the Theater.

  • From then on, I was engrossed in community productions of every show under the sun. But I didn’t stop there. On top of continuing to do stage productions, I decided to revisit my old love of song-writing (or early song-writing), taught myself the guitar and piano, and produced my own music en-masse, simply for the pure joy and catharsis it brought me.

  • When I finally reached High School, I found a way to harness (and funnel) my silly personality through the world of comedy and comedy writing. Thus, another path of creativity opened for me; Comedy. In college, I explored working with other funny humans in a writing and performing environment, started performing stand up, and forming improv groups with my classmates.
